History Major
Class of 2012

I am a History major with a Public History minor. I’m a member of History Club, Alpha Lambda Delta, Sigma Tau Delta, and Phi Alpha Theta. I currently work as the Archival Assistant at the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media, as a Gallery and Collections Assistant in the Foster and Muriel McCarl Coverlet Gallery, and I serve as a History tutor in the department.

I absolutely love the warm and welcoming atmosphere around campus. A constant stream of smiles from the staff, students, and faculty, as well as the beauty of the old campus buildings and natural landscape creates an inviting environment. Academically, the courses offered at Saint Vincent are unique and challenging, so that every student can find a number of classes that appeal to their interests and career goals.

Dr. Karen Kehoe, my History department advisor, has been my most influential professor here. Dr. Kehoe has continuously encouraged and supported me in my studies and in my extracurricular endeavors.

I don’t think I could choose a favorite class because I have had the opportunity to enroll in so many fascinating classes and meet with a number of engaging professors. Fr. Wulfstan’s English courses are always a lot of fun and of course, each of the professors in the History department bring their passion for history to the forefront. I must admit that from Western Civilization, English History and East Asian History to the American and Public History courses, I have had great experiences in the Saint Vincent College History Department.

Incoming freshmen should know that it’s okay if you don’t know what you want to major in, who you want to be, what you want to do with your life. Saint Vincent will help you find out. College is a life-altering experience. Study hard, have fun, make new friends, form personal relationships with your professors, and take advantage of the immense opportunities that arise. Four years will fly by before you know it.
