Dr. Susan Sommers joined the history department faculty in 1993. Her fields of specialization include the Enlightenment, Early Modern and Modern Britain, the Age of Empire, Historical Method and Colonial Latin America.
Her love of history stems from her childhood when many of her family vacations were to historical re-enactments and battlefields. "It is natural that I love history," she said.
Time has not weakened her love of history and research. It has only strengthened it. “It’s really fun,” she said. “I think as our scholarship matures, most academics find our own niche. We find something that intrigues us and keeps us intellectually stimulated. It brings spice to the classroom and makes our students interested.”
