Kristin received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Music degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied piano with Ralph Zitterbart and Sergey Schepkin. Her work at Carnegie Mellon also includes earning her Certificate in Piano Pedagogy under Hanna Wu Li, and research in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a method of teaching music that focuses on using rhythmic movement, ear training, and improvisation to unlock creativity and enlivened music making. Kristin currently teaches piano for the Carnegie Mellon Preparatory School and for Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12. Kristin is also a certified Music Together teacher, and teaches for Music Together First Notes at the Center for the Arts in Shadyside. Some of her previous experience includes teaching Eurhythmics for the Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Program, teaching piano for the Sweetwater Arts Center, and serving as music director and organist for the Grandview Presbyterian Church. Kristin was the winner of the Steinway Society of Pittsburgh’s annual piano competition in 2003, and is proud to have students now winning scholarships and competitions. Kristin plans to continue her Dalcroze Eurhythmics training this summer at CMU in hopes of receiving her License. Kristin is very excited to be joining the Music faculty at St. Vincent, and is grateful for the opportunity to make music in such a beautiful and spiritual environment.
