STEP Scholarships
For Fall 2012, we are proud to announce new STEP Scholarships (4-year full-tuition) for incoming SVC freshmen majoring in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, or minoring in Biotechnology. The scholarships are partially funded by the National Science Foundation through the “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program” or STEP. Selections will be based on both scholastic performance and financial need. Calculation of financial need will require the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be filed.
Students must participate for the first two years in a new college initiative, the Collaborative Learning Program (CLP), aimed at providing students with supplemental instruction in the rigorous courses of their major. Scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA or demonstrate satisfactory academic progress throughout their undergraduate career, graduating with a major in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, or minor in Biotechnology.
After your acceptance to Saint Vincent College, you may apply for this scholarship by completing the following essay (1000 words). Please include your name, address, and date of birth.
STEP Scholarship Essay: Describe why you want to enroll in one of the following programs: Bioinformatics, Biochemistry or Biotechnology. How will this interdisciplinary field assist you in achieving your future career goals?
The deadline for receiving the completed STEP Scholarship application has been extended to March 18th. Awards will be made by mid-April. (Send your application in advance if using standard mail.) Send your STEP scholarship essay to the following address:
