I am from Allison Park, PA, just north of Pittsburgh. My high school guidance counselor suggested I look at Saint Vincent because of its excellent academics and friendly people. She was absolutely right!
I am a Communication major studying the Public Relations and Advertising track. I’m also pursuing a Marketing minor. Outside of class, I like to be active in the SVC community: I am President of the SVC Culture Pub, Media Chair of Alpha Phi Omega, and am active in Marketing Matrix, Threads for Heads, Women in Business, and Orientation Committee. I’m also involved in the Alpha Lambda Delta and Lambda Pi Eta honor societies. This year, I was chosen to participate in the Fred Rogers Scholars Program. Additionally, I work as an Admissions Ambassador, a work-study for the Archabbey Public Relations Office, and as the Marketing and Design Intern for the Office of Campus Life.
I am fortunate to have had many wonderful professors during my time at Saint Vincent. All of them have impacted me in their own way, especially Dr. Cook, Dr. Robinson, and Dr. Edmiston. They ignited in me an even greater passion to treat every experience as a unique learning opportunity and have shown unwavering support throughout my college journey thus far.
There are so many reasons to love Saint Vincent! I especially value the close relationships I’ve built with my professors over the years. They always have my best interests in mind, and I can go to them for help at any time. I also love the strong sense of community that is present all over campus. It is so nice to see a friendly, familiar face wherever you go, be it a monk, a professor, or a classmate. The Benedictine values on which Saint Vincent was founded really help to make the campus feel like my home away from home.
The best advice I can give to freshmen is to be proactive. Our campus has so many resources that it is nearly impossible to fail at achieving your goals if you put in the effort. It is so important to get involved in the SVC community through clubs, sports, and activities. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Take your studies seriously, but always make time to have fun and grow your friendships. Most importantly, always keep a positive attitude: it will take you far!
