Jerome Foss
Dr. Jerome Foss
Assistant Professor of Politics

Dr. Jerome Foss began teaching political science at Saint Vincent College in Fall 2011 after receiving his Ph.D. in the same subject from Baylor University in 2011.

Dr. Foss never imagined himself as a professor growing up, but changed his mind when he read Aristotle's Politics as an undergraduate student in college. In his words, "Aristotle opened my mind to a completely different way of thinking. All I wanted to do was learn more—to understand more deeply." That desire to learn has not stopped, and he is hoping to transfer the desire to learn about political community to his students.

His favorite class to teach is institutions, in which students can learn the intricacies of the Constitution and the Institutions it creates. As part of last semester's class, he and fellow politics professor Dr. Jason Jividen took students on a trip to Philadelphia to see Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were written.

In his spare time, Dr. Foss enjoys playing basketball and has recently taken up fly fishing. Though he does not have much time to pursue his hobbies recently with five young sons at home, he hopes to doing it more regularly once they get older.
