Michael Rhodes
Dr. Michael Rhodes
Associate Professor of Biology

As a student at Saint Vincent between 1989 and 1993, Michael Rhodes was so impressed with the strong community on campus that in 2005, he came back. He became a professor in the Herbert W. Boyer School that August, and has enlightened biology students ever since.

Dr. Rhodes specializes in pharmacology, regularly telling his students that he's "all about drugs." As a result, he is thrilled to teach in the Excela School of Nurse Anesthesia Program, which recently began offering a doctorate program. But regardless of the subject, his favorite part of being a professor are the interactions with his students. In his words, "Having the opportunity to stay in contact with students, once they have moved on, has been a very rewarding experience to me as professor."

When he is not teaching a class or researching in a lab, you may catch Dr. Rhodes rocking out as the lead singer of our faculty band, Phineas Gage. He also enjoys Pittsburgh Penguins games and golfing, despite his 15 handicap. But his favorite hobby may be cooking with his wife Lee Ann, which he sees as "really just an exercise in scientific experiments that lead to wonderful meals." A scientist at heart!
