    Saint Vincent College, McKenna School: term contract, instructor position to begin August 2019.  The person must be prepared to teach survey of accounting, managerial accounting, and financial accounting I and II. Upper level classes may be required depending on need by the McKenna School. The teaching load is 4-4 with no more than three preparations in one given semester. Class sizes range from 15 to 40 students. The position has an on-going expectation of exemplary teaching and service to the students, service to the McKenna School, and service to Saint Vincent College. The position requires a completed MS in Accounting from an ACBSP or AACSB accredited university or college. The position also requires a record of exemplary teaching of accounting classes at the university or college level.

    The Alex G.   • Assistant Professor in Special Education

    The Department of Education at Saint Vincent College seeks an assistant professor in special education with combined expertise in early reading or elementary education, and/or a related area. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses.  The main focus of this position is to teach courses in special education both undergraduate and graduate, high incidence strategies and methods, early reading and field supervision. S/he will teach a combination of undergraduate and graduate level courses each term. The candidate will provide program leadership, development and coordination and will work to build alliances with local school special educators and with specialized programs meeting needs for special populations. 

    Qualifications include a doctorate in education or a closely related field, successful teaching/administrative experience and working knowledge in PreK-4 public education, the ability to teach special educators at the graduate level, as well as a thorough understanding of special education current issues and trends facing public education.  Applicants should possess a strong commitment to working collaboratively with local school districts in Westmoreland County, PA, strong interpersonal communication skills and significant familiarity with administration and program design.

    Preference may be given to individuals who have served successfully a minimum of five (5) years as a teacher, special educator and/or have held the position of in which the candidate had similar expertise with supervision and special education practice in a PreK-4 public school districts. The ideal candidate will have taught at the college level and understand the adult learner. The ideal candidate will have ideas about leadership and systems change and significant experience as a special education teacher and supervisor in an educational setting that is characterized by a diverse student population, strong ties to the constituencies in the community, and effective instructional programs.

  • Assistant Professor of Mathematics

    The Herbert W. Boyer School at Saint Vincent College invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in Mathematics starting in Fall 2019.  This position requires a Ph.D. in Mathematics.  ABD candidates will be considered and preference will be given to those who can complete the Ph.D. by the time of appointment.

    The College seeks candidates who are strongly committed to undergraduate teaching, can build positive relationship with colleagues and students, and have a commitment to continuing scholarly activity.  The teaching load will be three or four courses per semester.  Besides teaching and continuing scholarly activity, the new assistant professor will also be expected to contribute in the area of service to the department and to the college.  Preference will be given to candidates who best fit the mission of the college.

  • Assistant Professor of Engineering Science

    The Department of Engineering at Saint Vincent College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position beginning in Aug. 2019. Saint Vincent College offers a new Bachelor of Science program in Engineering Science in addition to a 3:2 program in Engineering. The college seeks candidates who are strongly committed to undergraduate teaching, can build positive relationships with colleagues and students, and have a commitment to continuing scholarly activity. Service to the department and college is expected, and excellent communication skills are required.

    All outstanding applications will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and expertise in mechanical systems. The successful candidate will teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses that support both engineering programs including courses in mechanical systems, supervise student capstone projects, advise engineering majors, and develop an active research program that engages undergraduate students. The standard teaching load is 24 credit hours per year. The teaching load during the probationary (pre-tenure) period is 21 credit hours per year.

Family Leave Policy

Saint Vincent supports faculty families with flexible family leave and disability policies. Any faculty member welcoming a new child into his or her household (including adoptive parents) is eligible for a two-week parental leave at full pay. This parental leave supplements disability leave granted for pregnancy. New full-time faculty are eligible for either 8 weeks of disability leave or the remaining number of weeks of the semester in which a disability occurs, whichever is longer, at full pay. Depending upon length of service, the disability plan provisions generously provide for pay at varying percentages for up to 26 weeks. Faculty who are new parents may also request an extension of the tenure probationary period, under the provisions of the faculty handbook. Saint Vincent is also willing to provide reasonable accommodations to allow a faculty member to fulfill their contractual duties without the need for leave or, if leave is necessary, to assist the college in arranging appropriate coverage during their absence. Staff

  • Certified Nursing Assistant

    A part-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is needed for a small private nursing home at Saint Vincent Archabbey/College.  This position would be responsible for providing direct medical and non-medical care.  Assist with activities of daily living, general patient care, treatments and procedures.  Maintains a clean and safe environment for all patients and staff.  Bathes patients according to a hygiene schedule.  Observe and report any changes of patients' condition or behavior.  Performs duties as assigned by the head nurse.  Education:  State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and one-year experience.  Must be able to work all shifts.

  • Part-time Public Safety Officer

    The Public Safety Department at Saint Vincent College currently has a part-time opening for a Public Safety Officer. This position will provide law enforcement and security services to the Saint Vincent community and has exciting opportunities for security and police personnel who are highly motivated and conscientious. At least one year experience in law enforcement or security is required. Some college credits desirable. PA Act 235 (Lethal Weapons Training Academy) required or Pennsylvania Act 120 (Municipal Police Academy) or equivalent. Strong communication skills, good physical condition, ability to remain calm under stressful conditions, knowledge of computer applications, CPR/AED/First Aid, ASP Baton and OC Spray certifications are highly desirable. A valid PA driver’s license is a requirement.

Adjunct

    The Herbert W. Boyer School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computing at Saint Vincent College is seeking part time faculty applications for Spring semester 2017. Specific needs are in Exercise Physiology and also in Control Theory (Engineering). Candidates may also submit applications for possible future needs in day and/or evening courses in the School.   • Adjunct in the Department of Philosophy

    The Department of Philosophy at Saint Vincent College invites applications for adjunct positions for the Fall 2018 semester. 

    Qualifications: Adjuncts must have an MA by the time of appointment.
