Week of April 26 - All inter-ducts for Verizon and Citizens Cable are in.
- The condenser is moved off the roof of Commons and will be moved to Alcuin.
- The cement sculptures were removed from Commons and placed behind Chemistry for storage.
- The Commons building is three fourths of the way down.
- Electricians will finish grading around the manholes.
- Work continues to install underdrains.

View Slideshow Progress Week of April 19, 2009 - Citizens Cable fiber was pulled.
- A dye test of the sanitary sewer lines will be scheduled.
- The sub-base of the roadway along Physics to be put in on April 30 and May 1. Paving is set for May 4-5.
- Commons to be dismantled and broken down into small pieces so it can be hauled to the Cherry Path.
- Commons foundation removal to begin.
- By the end of the week, the site should be two thirds cleared of debris.
- Service road drainage will continue.
- The harvesting of shale for roadway will begin.
- Sub-grade for landscaping is scheduled and Laurel Nursery to do finished grade.
Progress Weeks of April 5 and April 12 - The following utilities were relocated and are in service: water, natural gas, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, high voltage power and fire alarm system.
- All conduit is in place for fiber optic cable and interducts.
- Backfilling and trenching was complete.
- Roadway west and north of Physics has been backfilled and was prepared for blacktop paving.
- The electrical shutdown on April 9 was completed and went well.
- Demolition started on April 13. A larger machine was anticipated for delivery between April 17 and April 20.
- Rough grading is completed on the service road. Work continued to install underdrains.
Week of March 29, 2009 - Sanitary and storm sewer excavation and piping north of Physics continuee.
- The ramps to the south entrances of Physics were closed at various times.
- HVAC at server room was re-piped.
- Cores drilled through server room wall for conduit runs.
- Conduits from Biology to Physics were incased in concrete.
- A coordination meeting was held concerning the power shutdown on April 9, 2009.
- Excavation continued on the east side of Biology.
- The next large electrical outage was planned for April 9, 2009. The outage was reconfirmed.
Service Road - Grading, stripping of topsoil, and back fill continued.
- The installation of inlets and piping for inlets began.
Progress Week of March 22, 2009
- New gas lines were tied.
- Excavation work continued along the east side of Biology.
- The fire alarm panel switch over was completed.
- Fiber relocation was completed for the science center buildings.
- Water relocation to new temp 6-inch line was completed.
- Phone line terminations were completed.
- Rock excavation continued on the south side of Physics.
- Plans for temp cooling in server room was were completed and coordinated for HVAC shut down on March 31.
- Concrete for parts of the electrical duct bank, along the north side of Physics, was completed.
Service Road
Progress Week of March 15, 2009
- Excavation on the gas, water and electrical lines on the south side of Commons was completed. Piping is in place and backfilling was completed.
- Excavation and backfilling in front of Commons (east) was completed.
- Excavation for gas, water, and electrical lines on the north side of Commons (Physics side) was completed. Backfill was still needed.
- Question of location of sewer manhole was discussed and the Mechanical Engineer (ME) gave approval for a clean out to be placed instead of a manhole.
- Cores drilled in electrical vault for conduits using a four-hour electrical shutdown on March 21.
- New water service to Physics is stubbed-up at the buildings.
- Conduit runs for phone/data were discussed and planned for the upcoming outage on April 9.
- Excavation of duct bank along the north side of Physics was completed.
- Geothermal well report given to Bob from the ME.
Service Road - Grading, stripping of topsoil and backfill continuing.
- Engineer suggested test area of questionable soil and compaction.
Progress Week of March 8-14, 2009 - Excavation for sanitary and storm sewer relocations on the south side of Commons was completed. Piping is in place and backfilling is proceeding. Gas, water, and electrical lines are being installed in this area.
- Primary water tap (6'') was completed using a hot tap.
- New gas service to Biology and Chemistry are stubbed-up at the buildings. Physics should be completed this week.
- Telephone cables and fiber were pulled.
- Contractor worked on Saturday, March 14 to complete excavation, piping and backfilling between Commons and Chemistry.
- Service Road -- Silt fence installed and top soil stripped. The engineer is looking at changing grade. Redesign of grade at gas line was received.
Progress Week of March 1-7, 2009
- Excavation and placement of sanitary and storm piping along south side of Science Center was completed.
- Construction of temporary faculty parking was completed west of Chemistry.
- Service road -- Installation of silt fence and stripping of top soil to continue.
- Primary conduits into Chemistry and Physics were installed. Completion scheduled for week of March 8.
- Restoration of walkway from north side of Chemistry to Biology was done the week of March 8.
- There are tentative plans to do work at an electrical manhole near Physics on Thursday, March 5 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. This shutdown will not affect the science buildings, but will affect many of the residence halls.
- A one-hour power outage for the Science Center was tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 5 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Computers were to be shut down on Wednesday night.
Progress Week of February 22-28, 2009 - Perimeter road around the Science Center remains closed and will be out of service through March. The road in front of Carey is open to vehicular traffic.
- Excavation for sanitary and storm sewer relocations continues on the south side of the site.
- Tree removal and clearing for the new service road continued.
- Excavation for natural gas and water lines around Chemistry started.
Progress Week of February 15-21 - Perimeter road around the Science Center was closed and will be out of service for approximately three weeks. The road in front of Carey Center is open for vehicular traffic.
- Excavation for sanitary and storm sewer relocations has started at the southwest corner of Physics. First manholes have been set and pipe is being installed. Excavation in rock is moving slowly.
- New electrical vault has been set and new conduit is being routed to Biology. Concrete encasement started on Feb. 20.
- Tree removal and clearing for the new service road has started.
- All core drilling for electrical conduits have been completed with the exception of penetrations into the server room in Physics.
- New fire alarm panel has been set and conduit is being run prior to switchover.
- Demolition contractor has moved off site and will return after relocations are complete (approximately March 25, 2009).
- Directional signs were made and posted.
