Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification is for those who have already earned a bachelors degree. Regardless of your certification area, the Education Department at Saint Vincent College combines content area course work, education course work and field experience with a liberal arts tradition. As a result of this instruction, candidates who complete certification at Saint Vincent College are extremely prepared and are thus very successful in passing all parts of the Praxis examinations and in obtaining teaching positions.
How to Apply:
- Complete the Teacher Certification Application
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended to the Office of Graduate and Continuing Education.
Once a candidate applies to the program, we will perform a course audit for the certification that is desired. At that time we match their previously taken undergraduate/graduate course work to the courses listed on the advising sheet in their desired certification area. As long as the application meets the requirements for admission, an acceptance letter will be sent along with a copy of the course audit completed for the student. At the time of acceptance students will be given the name of their assigned advisor in the Education Department.
*Please be aware that students accepted to the post-baccalaureate teacher certification program must complete a minimum of 24 credits on-campus and have a 3.0 GPA. Current Act 34 and 51 clearances are required for all teacher certification students at the start of the program as well as a TB test and an FBI fingerprint check. Please see the clearance sheet for more detailed information!
