Praxis Exams

Pennsylvania State Education Requirement 

The series of PRAXIS examinations is published by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). All students seeking certification in Pennsylvania are required to take a prescribed set of tests. Students should refer to the Registration book to verify the tests that they must take. These books are available in the hallway outside of the Education Department in Carey Center and in the hallway on the ground floor of Alfred Hall. Saint Vincent College Requirements:

Required Pre Professional Skills Tests (PRAXIS I)
To be taken Sophomore Year (or as early as possible for post-baccalaureate students)
PPST reading, PPST writing, PPST mathematics.

Students will not be allowed to continuue coursework with numbers greater than ED 207 if these exams have not been taken. Passing scores on the PRAXIS I are required before a student can register for Student Teaching Orientation, ED 400 (Pre-Student Teaching).

Required PRAXIS II or Specialty Area Tests
To be taken before Student Teaching
These tests measure ability in the various content areas. Students must pass all PRAXIS II exams to become state certified.
