Requirements for the International Studies Concentration or Minor
Both the International Studies Concentration and International Studies
Minor require the completion of 18 credit hours. The
Concentration/Minor is available in the language areas of French,
German, Italian and Spanish. All language, culture, and history
requirements must be completed in the same area (e.g., French,
German, Italian, or Spanish). A maximum of six (6) credit hours of
requirements can be used to fulfill requirements for the Core and/or a
major or additional minor.
I. Modern and Classical Languages and Culture (9 credits)
6 credits at the 300 level
3 credits of Culture and Civilization (400 number)
II. History (3 credits)
3 credits at the 200 level in a course that corresponds to the language
III. Societies and Religion (3 credits)
3 credits—selected from SO 217 Sociology of Religion, AN 242
Anthropology of Religion, RS 241 World Religions
IV. Elective (3 credits)
The student may take additional courses in the areas listed above or
select from a list of approved electives. A current list of approved
electives for the International Studies Program can be obtained in the
Modern and Classical Languages office.
