Languages

The curriculum in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages allows students to develop skills in a second language as part of the College’s mission to produce a well-rounded graduate who is prepared for life as well as for a career in our global society. The program will:

  • cultivate an understanding and appreciation of other cultures
  • foster the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing
  • provide students with insight through the study of foreign literatures, art and film

Who would benefit from a degree in a foreign language? Those careers are:

  • business
  • education
  • government
  • history
  • law
  • journalism
  • public services.

The Department also encourages students to enrich their undergraduate studies through participation in study abroad programs.
