Typically, 50 to 70 first-year students enter Saint Vincent as an undeclared major. Each undeclared student works with a faculty advisor in selecting courses and exploring possible areas of interest for a major. The student and advisor meet regularly throughout the first year to discuss academic progress and areas of interest.
Currently, Dean of Studies Alice Kaylor oversees the Undeclared Program and seven Saint Vincent faculty members work with the students. They are: Dr. Doreen Blandino, Br. Nathan Cochran, O.S.B., Dr. Thaddeus Coreno, Dr. David Grumbine, Dr. Timothy Kelly, Dr. John Smetanka, and Dr. Eugene Torisky. In addition to Dean Kaylor, members of the Academic Affairs staff also aid the Undeclared Program including: Mrs. Sandra Quinlivan, Ms. Nancy Rottler, and Mrs. Peggy Smith.
In addition to faculty advisors, the Saint Vincent College Career Center is an excellent resource for students who are undecided about their choice of major and career.
