Musical Ponderings

So, my club has recently undertaken the mission of raising money for AIDS, malaria and TB victims in Africa by raffling tickets for a Product (RED) i-pod. To make the i-pod more marketable, we asked a lot of "campus celebrities" to add their favorite songs to our i-pod. Well, when I listen to all of these people's favorite songs, it makes me think about my favorite songs. And so, I thought I would list them here for you and give you a little rationale. Sorry, this is probably more for your entertainment than yours. Ha. 8) These are in no real order....

1) Til I Collapse by Eminem

I love this song because there's this line where Eminem says that "A plaque in platinum status is whack if I'm not the baddest." I know, a lot of people hate rap, but here Eminem is saying, you can give an award, but if I'm not the best at what I do, an award isn't worth anything. Pretty deep, hunh? Eminem is my favorite poet hands down. 8)

2) Hot N Cold by Katy Perry

Katy Perry is a bamf. I love her. A lot. She has the perfect amount of sweet and vulgar rolled up into one fortune cookie of delight. This song is fun to dance to and especially walk to field bio too. And I should know.

3) If I Were a Boy and All The Single Ladies by Beyonce

Now, I am not the hugest Beyonce fan, but these two songs are really listenable. If I Were a Boy is a sweet ballad that's innovative and All The Single Ladies is a danceable ballade with 'tude and really cool choreography.

4) Brand New Day by Tim Myers and Lindsey Ray

Just try to listen to this song and not be in a good mood. Go ahead. I dare you.

5) When I'm 64 by The Beatles

Further proof that the Beatles are musical gods.

6) All This Beauty/Happiness by the Weepies

The Weepies write such sweet lyrics. Both of these songs are feel-good songs and they make you feel like life isn't all that bad. You can also really sing along to them while doing homework, so it's fun.

7) Sweet Pea by Amos Lee

This song really puts me in mind of my best friend. It's a perfect soundtrack to our friendship. Especially because he's a snot, but I adore him anyways.

Ok, just in case you didn't pick up on this, you oughta downloads these songs ASAP because they are AWESOME and you want to be awesome to right? Right? Of course you do!

PS- It's fellow blogger Jillian J's birthday! Hurray!
