One of the things I’ve loved most growing up was going on family camping trips. We all love nature and it’s cheaper to sleep eight people in a tent than to put them all in a hotel, so we always camp. Even when we were driving across the country, we would stop the van, set up the tent, sleep through the night, and then strike camp in the morning and keep driving. It was just part of our identity as a family.
As we’ve gotten older, it’s gotten harder to get the whole family together. As we’ve all gotten busier, we’ve still been able to do a big trip once a year, but not as many little ones. However, we’ve been really looking for a time when we can go on one last camping trip as eight people. Since my older sister Rebecca is getting married in six weeks or so, from now on we’ll only have seven or nine people when camping. So we were really hoping that we could go camping soon. And this weekend we get to do it! We’re leaving this afternoon for a weekend trip. I don’t actually know the destination yet, but I know that I’m supposed to home from work and packed by 4:30. It’ll be just like the good old days!
