This blog will probably be somewhat disappointing because I just realized that I'm late to leave town to head down to Columbus. Fr. Fred, the Vocations Director, invited myself and several other students to go to a retreat run by Saint Paul Outreach down in Columbus ( or over in Columbus if you're in Penn.) So I'll be driving down there from Cleveland in a few minutes. I'll have to leave the retreat a little early to get back to Cleveland because my brother is getting is Eagle Scout Award on Sunday! I'm quite proud of him since the Eagle Scout rank is the highest rank awarded in Boy Scouts and very few Scouts reach this rank. My Christmas and New Years went quite well. It's nice to step back from the busy-ness of daily life and have leisure time with friends and family. (For the philosophically-minded, read Josef Pieper's Leisure and the Basis of Culture). It's nice too to be back here with my family, whom I miss when I am at school. At the same time, I do miss all my St. Vincent friends dearly and can't wait to see them again. It's quite strange but my body is still trying to catch up with me since finals week. Slowly, I'm starting to feel like myself again but the process is taking a while. It's held up by the fact that my achilles tendon is, well, messed up right now. I had sprained my ankle back in the fall and it seemed like it was healing slowly, but I wasn't sure that anything was necessarily wrong. But, probably due to dancing in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," when I got home after finals, I was in such pain that I was unable to work and had to go get an MRI. So now I'm wearing the big Darth Vader boot again for who knows how long. I'd better go now, but I'll update again next week. Until then, enjoy the new year!
