Fourth of July

Happy belated fourth of July! I spent it with my second family, aka my best friend and roommate and her family. We had the normal July 4th traditions with hot dogs and hamburgers and potato salad and football, although we adjusted it to flag football for the little ones. But with a dad on each team it was no fun because we had to kinda play by the rules, which are the most ridiculous of any sport. Sorry football fans, but your sport is seriously annoying with all it's little nitpicking rules. haha We got to be little kids with the rest of the youngsters and catch lightning bugs :) We had quite a collection too; made a rather impressive lantern out of a water bottle. And of course we had our own little fireworks exhibition - some of them not quite legal hehe - which ended up being better than some of the pros I've been to. And it ended up being a good thing we didn't go to see any of the official ones in the county, some ended up getting cancelled due to the lovely severe thunderstorms we get several times a week. We even saw some swirling dropping clouds that were the beginnings of potential tornadoes. Scary (but exciting!). But maybe fireworks always seem better when you're up close and personal and get to light them yourself. Plus sparklers are pretty sweet, especially when you take pictures with a slower exposure and you can see the path.
