Wow, it has been a while since I posted. Luckily, I have numerous things of great import to share, so fasten your reading seatbelts! So, the Company’s recent production of Joseph was amazing—major props (oh look, a theater pun) to all who participated. SVC is just full of art-minded people: Hamlet, which the Shakespeare Club put on a while ago, was equally grand. In other news, it is finals. FINALS! Actually, I’m not too stressed. I managed to finish all of my final projects without offering up my soul to anything demonic, promising the espresso machine my first born child, or selling a not-so-vital internal organ in exchange for bribe money. I have to say I’m most proud of my work in Intro. to Lit and Music History. Not only is the movie we made for Dr. McDaniel, Gossip Gatsby, not the definition of bad, it’s actually rather entertaining. Also, I learned to edit on software not from the 80’s—a valuable skill. My annotations for the same class weren’t too painful, either, and it gave me an excuse to be a complete English nerd in the library. The stacks—the mad assortment of library books—were rather confusing, especially when I had to venture into the “blue” area for books on Puccini (read: music class is painful for the lover of music who realizes she has the musical ability of a dying cat…hence, numerous texts to explain things). However, some kind soul went to the trouble of putting arrows on the ground pointing to all exits, and I managed to find my way out of the literature labyrinth with only a small degree of difficulty. As I sit here typing this, I must also mention that SVC is looking pretty darn fine. We finally got snow, and a lot of it. I must remember to take pictures—snow can make anything look attractive, and SVC was already gorgeous, and so life is grand. Moreover, snow equals sledding and other outdoor tomfoolery. To take a study break today my friends and I watched the worst movie ever, Black Ninja, out in the Benny lobby and then celebrated with some outdoor fun. I do believe my fellow blogger Daniel bought it for 9 cents online; the original was found by Sam for a dollar. The plot is convoluted, it looks like a power rangers knock off, the acting is sad, the dubbing might have been done by the same four people (one of which was Australian…because that makes sense for a movie set in Hong Kong)…and it was amazing. Outside we sledded, something that I am terrible at. Really. I am the worst sledder (is that a word? If clarification is needed, “Sledder: one who sleds”) in the history of the known universe. I run into things, fall of my sled, sink in the snow, go two feet and stop, fly head first off the sled, am attacked by woodland creatures…it is a curse. Yet I tried yesterday anyway, and it wasn’t too bad. We also made a snow monk, because hey, why not. We named it Father O’Mara in honor of Tim O’Mara, but sadly it had either collapsed or been knocked down by the time we came inside and relaxed. You can see part of the head and the lower part of the body if you walk up near Benny still, though. Unfortunately, I must now delve into the depths of academia—to studying I go. I’ll be a hermit with a book in my room all weekend, but hopefully that will yield excellent grades. Yet before I bid you fine people adieu, I have a shameless plug: The girls XC and LAX team are gathering money to buy gifts for two families with single parent moms—three small children in total. Essentially, we’re playing Santa. (For more details, see me, Coach West, or Coach Harbert.) If you’d like to help out, throw some cash at your favorite female runner or lacrosse player—just be sure to tell them why, else they may think you’ve lost your mind (or just really like them).
