Dude, I murdered my Dell.

So, I had this excellent web post about the Halloween dance—I was Sudoku, and it was about as grand as it sounds, my birthday and the foodage/bowling that followed, and the baby blanket making that recently occurred with Campus Ministry, in which I worked with the darling Alicia Rae.

However, these great events have been overshadowed by my own stupidity. Yeah, you read the topic of this post right. I killed my poor little computer.

As previously mentioned, I have mad trouble with all things involving technology. And so, it shouldn’t be a large surprise to me that when water falls on my laptop, the poor thing makes one last surprised gasp—one last pleading question, an unanswered “why?” from the piece of damp plastic that is now my laptop—and then makes it last “bleep.”

This is bad.

Cut to me doing all that I can to try the darned thing by the book (because with my luck, I’d electrocute myself), calling my mother with earnest cries of repentance, and trying to find the Dell number. Talks with the Dell man revealed that I’d have to send my computer in, and the almost two hour conversation yielded two pieces of information: one, that technical support people are endlessly patient, and two, I’m going to live in the land of limited email and Facebook stalking for a few days. Luckily I had backed up all my photos and documents a few hours prior to my computers death, so I do have everything I’ve worked on.

Also, word to the wise: spend the extra thirty bucks on the crazy extended warranty, which actually covers moments like this. So worth it…otherwise, I might have run screaming though the halls of St. Benedict (and, in the process, given birth to even more ghost stories).

I leave you now, as I am typing this on my roommates laptop (as she is lovely, and lets me steal things), and she has work that needs finished. However, enjoy the mental image of me after about hour one on the phone, sitting on hold…when I realized the music playing in the background was “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” from the musical Evita.

The very musical that was once made into a flim with Madonna and Mr. Bandaras. I burst into laughter, as my cross-country teammates and I used to reinact the balcony scene in that film, because where we warmed up for races had the perfect white balcony. It was a nice stress breaker to an overall insane night.
