I am loving break right now. I wasn’t sure about the whole packing up and leaving for just a week—just long enough to get used to being home—but I am in heaven as of my typing. While I love my SVC friends dearly, I do miss my WashPa pals quite a bit at times. It’s hard to find a group of people who know you really well AND love to be ridiculous with you, and I have a long history with my 724 friends of both. Besides, at this point we can have full conversations of inside joke references—hideously painful for all those not us, I know—and I sometimes forget that using terms like “the Constable” or “comrades” won’t produce immediate understanding. But what have I occupied my time with? Primarily not doing SVC realted activities, i.e homework. I’ve done my readings, but that’s about it—mainly because there is so much to do! I’ve had work, family time, friend time, boyfriend time, a combination of all three, Party!Ken shenanigans, and a variety of other highly eventful and fulfilling times. Mostly though I’ve been basking in the holidays. I have a big family I adore, and nothing compares to seeing all of my uncles/aunts/cousins/second cousins/friends of the family/people we pick up and claim as family but have no genetic ties/etc. crammed into my grandmothers house. She cooks almost everything, but all of the kids bring a dish or two. The food is insanely good, and I eat myself into a stupor every year on the spinach balls and turkey alone. Yesterday I participated in Black Friday nonsense, which is something I never thought I’d do. I mean, I’ve worked it before and hated it, but granted I was in a calendar store, which is akin to the black hole of the standard eastern mall. Why? Because calendars are typically the gift you get for the person who you don’t want to be giving a gift to in the first place, and hence 95% of a population in said calendar store is upset that they’re there. But hey, Kylee and Alyssa really wanted to go, so… Anyway, we were set to go out round 7, which isn’t for the hardcore but is still considered insane. However, Alyssa purposely turned off her phone and slept, which I guess is a good thing. We ended up at South Hills to shop around 9, and it wasn’t too busy at all. We shopped, we ate, it was grand. Until, on route home, Kylee and her smoothie met an unfortunate end in the backseat of Alyssa’s car. While Alyssa made a turn, the smoothie that Kylee was holding between her legs (as Adolf, the car, has no cup holders in the back) exploded everywhere. The floor, the door, the seat, Kylee…it was a pink mess. Alyssa kept yelling things like “you have sullied the Geo!” which essentially means that I found this situation hilarious. Kylee was laughing, blaming it on Alyssa…Alyssa was declaring their friendship over…good times and memories. However, this meant that the next hour of my life was spent trying to scrub out the smoothie from Alyssa’s gray interior, which was not so much fun. Yet it did provide pictures, which I have given to you! Yeah…I’m going to miss these cats when I head back up to school. Still, I kinda miss SVC. It grows on you.
