Sometimes I hear a toilet flush and it makes me want to beat my face against a wall.

Once again it is everyone’s favorite time of the year. It is the time when hysterical laughter rings gaily up and down the hallways. It is the time where people deprived of their precious 8 hours of sleep stare blankly at each other across the cafeteria. It is the time when the twinge in your wrist becomes full blown carpel tunnel from a copious amount of essay tests. It is finals week. It makes me want to beat my face against a wall.

Today was day one of finals. I had my History of the English Language final first, followed directly by my Chaucer final. I am finished with finals for today, but I have to study for tomorrow’s final which will most certainly kick my butt. Tomorrow’s final is for my Holocaust Questions class. The class itself is incredibly interesting, and I have learned a great deal about the Holocaust, what led up to it and the aftermath, but there is enough information to drown me. I have read over my notes already, but I do not feel properly prepared.

Right now the only thing that I want to do is sleep. Or possibly play video games. Or maybe go outside and sleep in the grass. The important thing is that my room happens to share a common wall with the bathroom, and my head is by that wall when I sleep, and I believe that everyone on my floor was up by six in this morning and using the bathroom. I can only sleep through so many flushes of the toilet! There needs to be some staggering of the flushes! Ah, I have become delirious.

But, after Holocaust, I just have my Literary Criticism II final on Wednesday, and then my YA Fiction on Thursday. Then I get to haul all of my stuff out of my room, down to my car, pack it and drive four hours home. Then I plan on playing lots of video games and sleeping and visiting people until Monday when I start to work for real. I may go beat my face against a wall now.

Working in the real world does make me appreciate my education all the more. I just wish that I felt more prepared. So, I will either start to review my notes some more, or set an alarm and pass out for an hour until I go to work. And just to let you know, someone just flushed the toilet.
