The Most Delightfully Magical Day of the Year!

I must admit, last night I was thinking about something quite different when I was mentally planning out my blog. I was rather thinking about all of the negative qualities that microwave popcorn entails. One of the more common causes of fire drills on the SVC campus is someone deciding to put a bag of microwave popcorn in for what I can only assume is some time close to 73 minutes which inevitably burns the popcorn and sets off the fire alarms in the building. This forces all of the residents of said building to rush (in my case) down 6 flights of stairs after finding the first pair of shoes that I saw, which just happen to be the Crocs that I wear in the shower. They were pre-moistened from the shower that I took before the drill, but soon filled up even more when I stepped out into the pouring rain. So, the entire population of Wimmer was standing outside becoming increasingly soaked due to some jerk and his popcorn.

Now that I have finished my rant, I would like to talk about the real reason that I am writing today. Today just happens to be the most magical day of the whole school year. To clear up any misunderstandings, I do not mean magic in a wave your wand Harry Potter type of way, but in a wonderful, breathtaking, fantastic type of way. No, I am not finished all of my finals, but the end of finals is a day that is nearly as special. The day that I am referring to, of course, is the day of the first snowfall of the school year. You may ask me, “Well why the FIRST snowfall is so important as opposed to all of the others?” The answer is simple. The first snowflakes which land are inevitably the most beautiful because they cover the dull depressing colors that are synonymous with late fall. They turn the world into a beautiful world covered with tiny white jewels. Not only is the snow beautiful, it is still a novelty, which it will not be for long when you have to slog through it when you have to go to class.

With all of the aforementioned information under your belt, I would like to reiterate something. SVC is absolutely gorgeous when it snows. All of the Christmas lights are strung and lit up in Melvin Platz, and everything is covered in spun sugar like a fairyland. Snow always gives me hope for what is in the future. If the drab and depressing scene that was outside my window can be fully transformed overnight, imagine what I can get done in the week before finals. (That is, unless I have a heart attack within the first 15 minutes of my Literary Criticism paper.) So, for now, I will sit here in front of my trusty laptop, wrapped in my giant blanket cocoon, and watch it snow, while working my bum off.
