ALUMNI COUNCIL COMMITTEES
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council is always the chairperson of this committee. Members are the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs, immediate past president, the president-elect, and the vice president. President may invite anyone else he/she deems necessary for proper input and participation. This committee meets before each Council meeting to discuss and plan the agenda for the meetings. This committee will review and approve appointments to all standing committees and review committee activities. This committee shall also address and resolve any issues or questions raised in Council matters.
ALUMNI COUNCIL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council appoints the chairperson and all members. This committee is responsible for fund-raising activities related to the Scholarship Fund, established in 2001, and works in coordination with the Easter Ball Committee.
HOUSE COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council appoints the chairperson and members. The purpose is for research and the founding of an Alumni House and to support Council in other endeavors as identified by the President of Alumni Council and the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs.
ANNUAL GIVING COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council, in consultation with the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs, appoints the chairperson. The chairperson chooses his/her own committee. This committee works with the Development Office and the Alumni Office to implement the annual giving program.
AWARDS SELECTION COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council appoints the chairperson and all members. This committee determines the awardees of the Father Camillus Award, the Student Alumni Service Award, the Outstanding Student Alumni Leadership Award, Honorary Alumni Awards, and the Distinguished Alumni Awards. This Committee can also discuss and implement Special Awards when deemed appropriate. For purposes of the Distinguished Alumnus Awards, ex officio members shall include President of Alumni Council, the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs, and the immediate past President, and the President-Elect of Alumni Council. The committee chairperson, after consulting with the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs may also appoint a senior member of the student body and member of the college faculty. This committee must meet at least annually and as soon as possible after February 15 to select awardees for the Distinguished Alumni Awards, which are presented at Homecoming in the fall.
EASTER BALL COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council appoints the chairperson and members of the Easter Ball committee. In conjunction with the Alumni Council Endowed Scholarship Committee and the Institutional Advancement Office, the committee plans the annual Fr. Gilbert J. Burke, O.S.B. Easter Ball, which serves as the primary outreach event for Alumni Council and as a cultivation event for Saint Vincent. Proceeds from the Easter Ball benefit the Saint Vincent Alumni Council Endowed Scholarship Fund.
REV. FINTAN R. SHONIKER, O.S.B., MEMORIAL AWARD COMMITTEE
This committee shall be comprised of the President of Alumni Council, the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs, and those Saint Vincent faculty members and faculty from any other college serving as council members. The committee is responsible for nominating and selecting the awardee of the Father Fintan Award.
HEALTH SCIENCES FUND COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council appoints the chairperson and his/her committee. This committee publicizes the Health Sciences Fund and encourages donations from among the medical alumni. Further, the committee assists the Development Office with any events connected to the Health Sciences.
LEGAL/RULES COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council appoints the chairperson and the members. This committee is called upon for legal opinions in matters related to the Council and for such things as revising the Constitution for the Alumni Association. Their duties shall be to review any proposed amendments to the Constitution and any legislation that would affect the conduct and/or rules of the Alumni Association. This committee shall, at least every five years, review the Constitution and committees of Alumni Council for additions, corrections, or deletions.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The President of Alumni Council appoints the chairperson and the members. Members shall consist of one alumnus from the Preparatory School Alumni, one alumnus from among the Seminary Alumni, and three members from among the College Alumni. (Cf. Constitution, Article IX, Section 2). The duties of this committee are outlined in the Constitution under Articles VI, VII, and IX. This committee nominates prospective Council members to be included in the election ballot and nominates a candidate to become the Vice President.
PREP SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The chairperson is a Prep Alumnus, appointed by the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs. Other committee members are Prep School Alumni. The committee works in conjunction with the alumni office to plan the annual Prep Reunion and encourage classmates to attend.
STUDENT/ALUMNI RELATIONS COMMITTEE
The Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs are chairpersons, ex officio. One student of the college and one alumna or alumnus are co-chairpersons. All students on Council are members of this committee. The Council President and the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs also appoint other members to this committee. The main purpose is to foster interaction between students and alumni and the committee may also participate in planning of student-alumni events.
HOMECOMING COMMITTEE
The chairperson should preferably be a member of the 25th Anniversary Class, appointed by the Saint Vincent officers responsible for alumni affairs. Other members of the committee are representatives from other anniversary classes. In conjunction with the alumni office, this committee plans activities for Homecoming and encourages classmates to attend.
