Who are Mentors?
Mentors are individuals in the workplace who volunteer their time to talk to students and other alumni about their chosen major and /or career path. They share their career experiences as well as offer practical advice concerning required skills, training/education requirements, and employment prospects and career paths for their respective fields.
Fewer decisions in life are more important than the key issues of career choice and career change. Selecting a major/career or changing careers can be a daunting task for both students and alumni. Our alumni and friends serving as mentors, representing a multitude of diverse occupations, present a tremendous information resource for students and graduates to enhance career maturity.
Students and re-careering alumni need sound occupational information in the career exploration phase of the career decision-making process to make good decisions. Occupational information presented on the web or in print form often times does not give students and alumni a complete, accurate portrayal of a career field.
As an authority in your field, we need your help by volunteering to:
- Share advice on careers and graduate/professional school with students and fellow alumni
- Host a tour of your work facility
- Visit campus to speak to a class or student organization
- Sponsor and internship/co-op education experience
- Provide a service learning opportunity
- Allow a student to visit your office to observe your field of work
By serving as a mentor you are staying connected to the College and making a significant non-monetary contribution. The intrinsic reward of helping and influencing students and other alumni with personal, real world experience can enrich your own life while touching the lives of others with invaluable information.

- Click on Join Our Mentoring Network
- Under Alumni/Mentor log in: Enter password : Steelers
- Select Add My Mentoring Profile
- After completing profile enter Save Profile
