Why should I make a reunion gift?
Reunion giving makes a strong statement about your commitment to SVC. For some alumni who have never given to the College, reunion giving is a time to step forward and make a first-time gift. For others who are regular contributors, it's often a time for an increased commitment.
Why does the College need my support?
Tuition dollars provide less than half of the College’s revenues. This means that gifts from alumni are more vital than ever. Your support will sustain excellence in teaching, scholarship, and athletic programs at Saint Vincent College.
Does reunion giving affect SVC's rankings?
Yes. In U.S. News & World Report's annual assessment of colleges and universities, the percentage of alumni who give is a significant factor in alumni satisfaction, which figures into the overall rankings. By taking part in reunion giving, you help to deliver the message that you value what Saint Vincent College has contributed to your life and that you are willing to invest in its continued success.
How is reunion giving organized?
Staff members from the College Development and Alumni Relations Offices provide assistance and guidance. Typically, there is a designated class chair or co-chairs and often a committee is organized to make solicitations. Class volunteers appeal to classmates for support through letters, phone calls, and e-mail communications.
What areas can I support with my reunion gift?
In general, gifts given to Saint Vincent College are directed to help the area in greatest need. However, donors are able to designate a specific school or program of your choice. Financial aid, computers and technology, and student life programs are in greatest need, but any individual school or program can benefit from your gift.
Will I receive credit for my employer's matching contributions?
Yes. Corporate matching gifts will be credited to you and the class. Contact your human resources office for details on your company's program.
What types of gifts qualify?
You can participate in reunion giving through:
- Annual Giving. Whether $25 or $25,000, the unrestricted gifts alumni provide year to year help to fuel College operations. Annual gifts go directly toward SVC’s bottom line.
- Capital or Endowment Pledges and Gifts. These are usually large commitments for specific projects or programs. Alumni often fulfill such commitments over several years. All pledge payments received during your reunion year are credited to the class for alumni participation and class giving totals.
- Planned Giving. Gifts for the future benefit of Saint Vincent College, such as charitable trusts, may be eligible for inclusion in the class giving totals.
What is the last day I can make a reunion gift this year?
Any gift made during the Saint Vincent College fiscal year, which begins July 1 and ends June 30, will be counted in reunion giving totals for your anniversary class.
What methods of payment can I use?
Checks, credit cards, electronic gift transfers, and appreciated securities are all accepted. Go to SVC's online giving form to make a gift today.
How will my class gifts be recognized?
During Reunion Weekend in August, your class's level of participation in reunion giving will be announced during the Alumni of Distinction Dinner. Special recognition and commendations will be given to the anniversary class(es), with the:
- Highest percentage of participation in giving this year
- Most dollars contributed this year
- Most donors this year
(To ensure your gift is included in the ceremonial check that your class presents to the President, please make your gift before June 30.)
