Fr. Mark Gruber joins Walsh University Board of Directors

The president of Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, Richard Jusseaume, has invited Fr. Mark Gruber, O.S.B. to be a member of the University’s Board of Directors. Fr. Mark has recently addressed the Secretariat of Education of the Pittsburgh Diocese for a day of recollection, as well as the teachers of the diocese at Serra High School in McKeesport, PA.

Seniors, Lucas Guthrie and Alison Posgay, were honored at the Act 101, Region G Student Awards Luncheon on Saturday, April 11, at Westmoreland County Community College. The Act 101 staff selected the students because of their academic progress, their contribution to the campus community, and their commitment and dedication to the Opportunity program.

Western Pennsylvania Chapter PSPA offers $1000 scholarship

The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Public Accountants will award a $1000 scholarship for the 2006-2007 school year. The scholarship is being offered to help a qualified accounting major reach her/his goal of a degree in accounting. The PSPA is a professional organization with over 1300 members throughout the state, the Western Pennsylvania Chapter has over 160 members. The organization is dedicated to maintaining high standards of proficiency among its members.

The Oblates of Saint Benedict to meet April 23

The Oblates of Saint Benedict, Latrobe Deanery, and all others who are interested will meet at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, in the retreat lounge of St. Emma Retreat House in Greensburg. (Note the change of time and place.) The Benedictine theme to be treated will be “Wisdom,” based on Chapter 24 of the book Benedict’s Way, with emphasis on knowledge of the heart beyond intellectual understanding.

Library announces end-of-semester procedures

Attention all student borrowers: Library materials should be returned to the Library by Friday, April 28, 2006. Materials not returned by then will be considered lost and charged according to the following: $40 per BOOK (minimum); $25 per VIDEO (minimum); $20 per CD (minimum); $20 per DVD (minimum); $15 per AUDIO (minimum); PLUS $30 processing fee (minimum per item). Fines and charges not paid by noon on Friday, April 28 will be forwarded to the Business Office.
