Eleanor Ent will present a program on the one-room school houses that were once common in rural Westmoreland County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 in the Westmoreland Room, Placid Hall (second floor). The slide talk will feature the schools that still exist as well as those that no longer stand. Ms. Ent's interest in this early educational institution began when her family purchased a property in Loyalhanna Township that had a dilapidated building that served as the Concord Schoolhouse. The Westmoreland County Historical Society will display photos and artifacts of the restored school and other one-room schoolhouses. The program is free and open to the public.
