Call to order- 8:05 PM Prayer- Herzing Excused: Florendo, Marsherall, Dott Unexcused: Mortimer, Teems, Sroka, Myers, O’Connor, Palscey, Farrell Minutes approved by Cheplic, seconded by DiAlesandro Public- Fisher, Rine, Wagner Vice President’s Report – Hartbauer reminded the senate that Springfest is on April 22. She asked all members of the senate to sign up to work a shift. Activities Report – Clark reported that comedian Mike Green was great. Monte Casino night had around 250 people in attendance throughout the night. Upcoming events include Battle of the Sexes and a scavenger hunt. The foam party will be held on April 28. Feigel reported on Cotillion stating that there were no major problems. They are still getting a final count on all the numbers. Feigel asked the senate for comments and suggestions. Secretary’s Report – Wojtila announced that elections for next school year will be held on April 26. Petitions are now available and are due by April 21. President’s Report – Stevens gave a brief report on the National Conference on Student Leadership that the Executive Board attended in Nashville. She noted that the executive board attended numerous workshops and met other student leaders from all over the country and the world. Motion to enter executive session by Cheplic, seconded by Keeler. Motion to end executive session by Keeler, seconded by Puglisi. Old Business – Stevens asked members of the senate to vote for the SGA Awards. Nominations were taken during office hours. Anyone who was nominated appeared on the ballot. This award is given to five seniors who have been on SGA, and to one administrator and one faculty member. Smith reported on the SGA TV’s that were supposed to be installed. They have yet to arrive, but should be here shortly. Campbell reported on the price increase of parking permits. The price increase is coming from the board of directors. They would eventually like the price to be $100 per year. Issues from the floor – Facebook was the main topic of discussion. There was much debate among the senate regarding students being punished for pictures posted on facebook. While it was commented that there should have been a warning concerning this issue, it was also stated that an e-mail was sent to students at the beginning of the school year regarding the policy. Other topics that were brought up included other students posting pictures of you and the fact that facebook is a public website for anyone to see, therefore students should take responsibility when posting anything on the website. There was a question on clarification of who is looking at these pictures and “turning people in.” It was motioned by Stewart to have Caridi address the senate on the new facebook policy that will appear in the student handbook as well as to clairify other questions with the issue.
