The Saint Vincent Athletic Department announces that highlight clips and other video features on the school's 20 athletic programs are now availableon the popular Internet site YouTube.com. 

The official Bearcat site can be found at:  www.youtube.com/svcbearcats. 

Video highlights from individual games and season-ending highlight reels are avaialable for viewing, as are interviews with coaches and other special features on student-athletes.

Most videos from the current year are available in a higher-quality format.  Just below the main video screen on the YouTube page is a link that says "view in high quality."

Older archived videos are posted on the site as well, but in standard quality.

"Being on YouTube gives our teams exposure on a very large scale," said SVC sports information director Jeff Zidek, "and a new opportunity to reach potential new students."

Currently, over 90 videos are posted, and the number will continue to grow weekly. 

"Ultimately," Zidek said, "we want to have as much video out there as possible of our teams, to show people everywhere what Saint Vincent athletics has to offer.  YouTube is one of the most-viewed sites on the Internet, and to have our student-athletes exposed in such a way is a tremendous thing."

The change gives viewers an opportunity to not only watch highlights in a larger format, but also to embed videos into their own sites. 

The videos are all produced through the school's sports information department, with much of the camera work and post-production done by student workers.

"We've been blessed to have some very talented students work with us in the sports information office," Zidek said, "and in addition to showing off our athletic teams, being on YouTube also shows off, on a larger scale, the tremendous work our students do for us behind the scenes, and the kind of real-world experience they get as students at Saint Vincent."
