Twenty-five Saint Vincent College student-athletes were recently awarded at the annual Saint Vincent College Athletic Awards banquet. Five different awards were given out, recognizing the student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. E. Albert DeLuca Award The E. Albert DeLuca Award, awarded annually in memory of the late Al Deluca, Saint Vincent teacher and football coach, recognizes students selected as outstanding student-athletes.

John Granish Award The John Granish Award, in memory of the late-Saint Vincent soccer coach, is given to student-athletes who have made the most of their talents.
This year's recipients included: Gregory Spelar, Men's Cross Country/Track Dan Quinn, Men's Lacrosse Ashlee Shearer, Women's Volleyball April Hawkey, Women's Softball Amanda Connell, Women's Cross Country Aubree Mancuso, Women's Lacrosse
William Rafferty Award The Rafferty Award, in honor of SVC alum William Rafferty, is given to outstanding Saint Vincent athletes who have achieved excellence in academics.
The 2008 winners included: Lori Orthen, Women's Tennis Tim O'Mara, Men's Cross Country Wayne Hooper, Men's Cross Country/Track Mark Mastriano, Men's Soccer Catherine Bittner, Women's Swimming Erin Mannella, Women's Soccer Laura Magnuson, Women's Cross Country Caryn Glassbrenner, Women's Basketball
Fr. Jerome Rupprecht Award Awarded annually in memory of the late Fr. Jerome Ruppprecht, OSB, who loved playing and coaching baseball, the Rupprecht Award is given to the student selected as the most outstanding player on the Bearcat baseball team.
This year's winner was Mike Adams.
Bearcat Athletic Club Award The Bearcat Athletic Club Award honors the students selected as the most outstanding athlete during the academic year.
This year's recipients were Ian McCollough, men's basketball, and Kristin Hozak of the women's volleyball team. The evening started with a welcome by Saint Vincent College President Jim Towey, and then an invocation from Saint Vincent Athletic Director Fr. Myron Kirsch, OSB. Jim Bendel, SVC women's tennis coach and the school's Director of Alumni Relations served as emcee of the event, held in Placid Hall Dining Room A.
