Sen. Rick Santorum to speak at Saint Vincent College

Pennsylvania’s U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum will speak to community members, students, faculty and dignitaries in the Robert S. Carey Student Center auditorium at Saint Vincent College on Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sponsored by SCORE Westmoreland and Saint Vincent's McKenna School of Business, the senator's presentation will include information on small business and a Washington update. Festival of Praise to be held on Sept. 2

All students are invited to the Festival of Praise & Picnic on Friday, Sept. 2 at Pershing Park on Arnold Palmer Drive in Latrobe. Dinner will include roast beef sandwiches and hot dogs and will be served at 5:30 p.m. The Festival of Praise will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Free will offerings will be collected to help cover costs. First Reformed United Church of Christ looking for an assistant choir director

The First Reformed United Church of Christ in downtown Greensburg is looking for an assistant choir director to direct and accompany the children's choir and children's tone chimers. The choirs rehearse Sunday morning (September through May) and perform monthly. Salary is $50 per week and those applying must be able to sing and play the piano. Library schedule announced

The library is open on Sunday from 12 noon to 10:45 p.m.; Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The library will be closed on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend, but will be open on Monday, Sept. 5 from 6 to 10:45 p.m. ( Read More )

Oblates of Saint Benedict to meet on Sunday, Sept. 11

The Oblates of Saint Benedict, Latrobe Deanery and all others who are interested will meet at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept.11, in Brownfield 202 at Saint Vincent. The Benedictine theme to be treated will be “Balance and Celebration,” based on Chapter 20 of the book Benedict’s Way, with emphasis on moderation for the sake of complete devotion to Christ. Ultimate Frisbee game planned for Labor Day

Students are invited to take part in a 24-hour Ultimate Frisbee game - the Latrobe Labor Day 150 -- which will begin on Sunday, Sept. 4 and continue through Monday, Sept. 5 at noon. According to coordinator Jym Walters, the event is open to any student who wants to play. There will be two teams - one wearing white shirts, the other black shirts. Players need to bring a white shirt and a black shirt, and players will be rotated and can play as little or as much as they would like. There will be one continuous game to 150 points.
