Saint Vincent College has named Jim Berger an assistant baseball coach for the 2007-08 season.

Berger graduated with honors from SVC in 2004 with a degree in Communication, and was a member of the Bearcat baseball team from '01-04.

A first baseman, he was a member of the two most successful teams in program history, including the '03 squad that holds the school record for wins in a season (27) and the '04 team that captured the American Mideast Conference's North Division title and finished runner-up at the NAIA Region IX/X Tournament, one game away from reaching the NAIA World Series. 

Berger has served as the assistant sports information director at SVC for three years, and will still remain in that capacity while working with the baseball program. 

While serving as assistant SID, Berger worked closely with the baseball team, serving as official scorer, public address announcer, photographer, and play-by-play announcer for internet and campus TV broadcasts.

"It's really an honor to be able to once again be a part of the Saint Vincent baseball program," Berger said.  "I can't really think of anyone better to work for and learn the game from than coach Janosko.  I'm very excited."

A native of North Huntingdon and 2000 graduate of Norwin High School, Berger officially began his duties on July 1st.
