Saint Vincent second baseman Mark Shouey and catcher Abe Weimer have each received Presidents' Athletic Conference Coaches Honors for their performances in 2008. Coaches Honors are the equivalent of All-Conference recognition for athletes from schools, like Saint Vincent, that are in provisional status in NCAA Division-III. Shouey, a junior, had an excellent debut season for the Bearcats after transferring from Mercyhurst-Northeast. He started in 33 of SVC's 35 games, batting .362. He tied a school record with a team-leading 13 doubles, while he also owned the team lead in hits (50) and runs (29). In addition, Shouey hit two home runs and stole six bases, while committing just five errors in 192 chances. Weimer, a senior, finished his career in fine fashion. Starting 33 games, the catcher batted .376 (47-125), and led the Bearcats with four home runs, 33 RBIs, and a slugging percentage of .528. He also scored 28 runs and swiped five bases, while striking out just five times on the year. Behind the dish, he was just as impressive, committing only three errors and throwing out 13 potential base thieves. The Bearcats, coached by Mick Janosko, finished the 2008 season with a 16-19 record, doubling their win total from the '07 campaign.
