#15 - Mick Janosko, Head Coach
Mick Janosko recently completed his 12th season as head baseball coach for the Saint Vincent College Bearcats. Over the past decade, Janosko has built a program that focuses on success, both on and off of the playing field. In 12 seasons, Janosko has coached seven All-Americans, while 50 have been named All-Conference. The Bearcats have finished with a cumulative team batting average over .300 10 times under Janosko, while the Bearcats' have finished with a fielding percentage over .945 in each of Janosko's seasons. His teams have also had success in the classroom, as 15 players have been named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll stemming back to the 2006 campaign. Also, 2005 graduate Josh Morrow became the first player in program history to earn National Scholar-Athlete laurels from the NAIA. Janosko was previously the assistant coach at Point Park College from 1992-1994. During his two years as assistant coach, the Pioneers finished second and first respectively in the KECC. As a player, Janosko had a successful career, playing at two top-ranked college programs, Marietta College (OH) and Point Park College(PA). During his senior season at Point Park, Janosko played left field, catcher and designated hitter on a Pioneer team that posted a then national record winning streak of 44 games. He hit .390 that year while driving in 32 runs. He participated in two College World Series and had several tryouts with pro clubs including Pittsburgh, Kansas City and Cincinnati. He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association. A 1990 graduate of Point Park College, Janosko earned his degree in journalism-communications. He and his wife Melodi reside in East McKeesport, PA with their three sons, Parker, Kendall and Traynor. |
