The Presidents' Athletic Conference has announced that four Bearcat basketball players have been awarded with PAC Coaches Honors for the 2008-09 season.

PAC Coaches Honors are the equivalent of all-PAC recognition for athletes from schools, like Saint Vincent, that are provisional members of NCAA Division-III.

The Bearcats honored include seniors Joey Butler, Billy Bains, and Mike Medved, as well as sophomore BJ McGill.

Butler, a 6-2 senior from Fort Washington, MD, was arguably the top point guard in the PAC over the past season.  He finished second in the league in scoring, averaging 20.1 points per game, while he led the PAC with an average of 6.2 assists and 3.6 steals.  He also finished fifth in the conference with 56 three point field goals.

Butler scored at least 12 points in 24 of SVC's 25 games, and scored over 20 points on 14 seperate occasions, including a career-high 33-point output against California Baptist in December.  In addition, he entered the school record books when he shattered a 36-year old team mark when he dished 16 assists in a January win over Bethany, while he posted a rare triple-double in a November win over Pitt-Greensburg when he scored 18 points to go with 11 rebounds and 11 assists.  This is the second consecutive season in which he earned PAC honors.

Medved, a 6-6 forward from Elizabeth, PA, also earned his second straight PAC Coaches Honors.  He quietly put together a solid season, finishing among PAC leaders in scoring (12.4 points per game- 11th in PAC, rebounding (7.0 reb/gm - 5th), and field goal percentage (.589 - 3rd), while finishing with a PAC-high 37 blocked shots.

Medved tallied seven double-doubles on the year, and scored at least 10 points in 18 different contests and grabbed at least 10 boards on eight different occasions.

Bains, a 6-3 guard from Richterswil, Switzerland, enjoyed the finest season of his career, tying with Medved for 11th in the PAC with an average of 12.4 points per game.  He also became the 28th player in school history - and the first foreign-born player - to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for his career.  In addition, he averaged 6.5 rebounds and connected on 40 percent (32-79) of his attempts from beyond the three-point line.

McGill, a 6-1 guard from Upper Marlboro, MD, had a solid season on both sides of the ball for the Bearcats.  He averaged 11.5 points, and finished second in the conference, behind Butler, with an average of 2.8 steals.  He also averaged 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds, while connecting on 42 three-point field goals.  McGill scored a career-high 25 points in the championship game of the Juniata College Tournament in November, and scored at least 10 points in 17 games.

The Bearcats finished the regular season with a 22-3 overall record, the highest single-season winning percentage in team history.  They are currently awaiting word on a postseason bid to the ECAC playoffs.
