The Bearcats concluded the home schedule with a 68-64 win over Grove City College, closing the books on an undefeated season at the Carey Center.

Everything was going right for the green and gold in the early part of the game, as the Bearcats opened up a 12-2 lead in the game's first four minutes.

Grove City then doubled SVC's output over the next 10 minutes, outscoring the hosts 16-8 to cut the Bearcat lead to just two, 20-18.

The Bearcats got hot again, widening the lead to eight, 26-18 with under five minutes to play in the first half.  The Wolverines, however, cut the gap to one, 28-27.  BJ McGill hit a shot in the closing seconds of the half to make it 30-27, but Grove City sent the teams into the break tied, thanks to a 3-point buzzer beater by Shawn Carr.

With the game tied at 34-34, Grove City went on a 9-point run, but Ian McCollough nearly singlehandedly brought the hosts back into the game, scoring eight points in a five minute stretch as SVC went back on top, 47-45.

The Bearcats managed to keep the lead until the 3:07 mark, when Grove City hit a pair of free throws to go ahead by a 60-58 margin.

Billy Bains then hit his second three-pointer of the half to put SVC on top to stay at the 2:19 mark.  It became a game of free throws in the closing minutes, and SVC went on to win by four thanks to a key steal by Butler and a pair of free throws by McGill with 4 seconds remaining.

McCollough paced SVC with 27 points on the night, along with 8 rebounds. Bains added 13 points and 7 rebounds, while Butler had 7 assists and 5 steals.  McGill scored 9 points for the Bearcats (21-3, 12-0 at home).

For Grove City (15-9), Ryan Gibson had 24 points, while Bobby Turner added 13 and Carr had 10, along with 8 boards.

SVC will travel to the Cincinnati area to take on Thomas More College (KY) on Saturday afternoon at 3:00.
