The Saint Vincent men won their 12th game in a row, but had to go to overtime to defeat Washington & Jefferson on the road.  The final score was 77-70.

W&J took the early lead, 2-0, but it would be the only time they would be on top until late in the game.  Joey Butler scored 10 of Saint Vincent's first 14 points, as the Bearcats opened a 14-9 lead.  A pair of baskets by BJ McGill later in the half put SVC up 26-12 with just over 8 minutes to play.

An Ian McCollough score later ran the lead to its highest point, eighteen (38-20), before W&J closed the gap back to 15 at the half, 41-26.

W&J took control at the outset of the second half, going on a 19-6 run over the first six minutes to cut the margin to just two, 47-45.  Butler once again pushed the Bearcat lead, scoring on a three-point play, followed by a pair of free throws, making it 52-45.

The game then became a free throw battle, with both teams spending a lot of time at the charity stripe.   W&J closed the gap to just one, but Butler went coast-to-coast to extend the lead to three, 55-52.  At the 6:30 mark, however, W&J managed to finally take the lead, 60-59.  A pair of McCollough free throws with 5:00 left put SVC back up by one, 61-60, then a 3-point play by Butler put the Bearcats up by four.  Each team then added four points, all at the free throw line, to make it 65-64 with 2:35 to go.  A McCollough basket put SVC up by three, but the Presidents' Albert Varacallo hit a three-pointer with 1:27 to go to tie the game.

With 1:10 left, McCollough was fouled and hit both shots to make it a 2-point game once again.  After SVC failed to score on their next possession, W&J's Brian Felker attempted a game-winning 3-pointer with two seconds left but missed. However, Varacallo grabbed the rebound and scored with 0.2 seconds left, sending the game to overtime, tied 69-69.

Neither team scored in the first two minutes of the overtime period. McCollough hit a jumper with 2:58 to go, and after a defensive stop, Billy Bains nailed a three-pointer with 2:06 to go, making it 74-69.  The Bearcat defense held W&J to just one point in the overtime period, pulling away to a 77-70 victory.

Saint Vincent was led by Joey Butler, who scored 25 points and had 5 steals.  Ian McCollough added 16 and Billy Bains had 13 points and 8 rebounds.  Mike MEdved added 8 points and 7 rebounds, while BJ McGill had 8 points.

SVC is now 20-3 on the year and is riding a perfect home record heading into Wednesday's final home game of the season.  The team will host Grove City College at 8PM in the Carey Center.
