PLSG Animal Cell Culture Methods and Scale-up Strategies

This introductory course emphasizes cell culture and scale-up theory, as well as an introduction to laboratory techniques utilized in animal cell culture. These include modern techniques used with mammalian cell culture from frozen stocks to inoculation and cultivation in bench top bioreactors. Lectures provide the background to understand the principles of cell culture and bioreactor design. Participants will gain experience with a variety of bioreactor systems, including stirred tank bioreactors, microcarrier and hollow fiber systems.

PLSG Separation and Purification Strategies for Biotechnology Products

Separation and Purification Strategies for Biotechnology Products is an introductory course that helps participants understand and develop strategies for separating and purifying proteins, recombinant DNA products, and monoclonal antibodies. Hands-on exercises include membrane filtration, chromatography techniques, and column packing.

NTI NanoForum

The Nanotechnology Institute (NTI) of Ben Franklin Technology Partners will hold its first day-long NanoForum on October 28, 2008 at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Old City Philadelphia.  This will be a one-day symposium dedicated to nanotechnology.  The intention is to provide a comprehensive overview of nanotechnology with panels discussing nanobio, nanomanufacturing, nanoenergy, and commercialization/financing.
