Graduation Practice - Sunday, May 4
Graduation practice will be held on Sunday, May 4. Graduates should report to the Carey Center Auditorium at 1:00 p.m. to complete the Senior Exit Survey. Practice will follow the survey. Bachelor’s and Master’s degree candidates should attend the practice. Bachelor‘s hoods will be distributed to seniors. Master’s students will receive their hoods during the commencement ceremony. Anyone who did not obtain academic attire prior to the Honors Convocation may do so after graduation practice. (See Academic Attire).
Diplomas
Diplomas will be issued to all participating degree candidates. Should you wish to be excused from Commencement, you must request permission from the Dean of Studies Office. In order to obtain your diploma, arrangements must be made with the Registrar's Office. Please allow two (2) weeks after Commencement for delivery. Graduation Degree Requirements
In order to receive a degree, a student must have satisfied all academic requirements and fulfilled all financial obligations to the College as noted under “Graduation Requirements” of the College Bulletin. Additionally, all borrowed books must be returned to the Library and students must satisfy all outstanding charges with the Business Office (i.e., parking tickets, library fines, etc.)
Participation
All degree candidates must confirm their plans to participate in Commencement by Thursday, May 1, with the Dean of Studies Office. Questions pertaining to eligibility to participate should be directed to Ms. Alice J. Kaylor, Dean of Studies, at 724-537-4566.
Academic Attire
Most degree candidates should already have picked up their academic attire in time to participate in Honors Convocation, April 23. Anyone who did not obtain academic attire prior to the Honors Convocation may do so after the graduation practice or on Saturday, May 10, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., in the Gown Room, located on the first floor of the Carey Center. Bachelor’s hoods will be distributed to seniors. Master’s students will receive their hoods during the commencement ceremony. Please keep in mind that academic attire is boxed and will need to be ironed or steamed. Therefore, we suggest obtaining your attire early.
All academic hoods and borrowed academic attire must be returned and checked in Prep Hall, Room 100 by 4:30 p.m. following graduation. Please note that students who were measured for academic attire and received it prepackaged are permitted to keep the cap, gown and tassel.
Graduation Announcements
Graduates should pick up their announcements and name cards in the Dean of Studies Office by Friday, April 18. Beginning Monday, April 21, extra announcements will be available on a first-come first-served basis for students who request them. SVC Today will announce when completed announcements are ready for pickup.
Senior Grades, Honor Tassels and Dean's List Certificates
Spring semester grades, Dean’s List certificates and honor tassels will be available in the Registrar’s office beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9.
