SVC professor meets with Congressional Allegheny County representatives

, left, assistant professor of criminology, law and society at Saint Vincent College, met on campus May 23 with Patricia H. Hoover, center, a field representative from the office of U.S. Representative Keith Rothfus of Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District, and Colin Dwyer, right, FUSE Corps Executive Fellow, Opioid Response Director, Allegheny County Health Department, to present findings from research he and his students have conducted from interviews with addicts at various stages of recovery on the root causes of addiction and recovery. Kocian and the students previously presented their initial findings to high-ranking FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials as part of a task force investigation because of the prevalence of heroin use in Westmoreland County.
