Gilbert and Sullivan Players to Present 'The Life and Death and Life of Tom Cobb' Dec. 1-3

The Saint Vincent College Gilbert and Sullivan Players will present the play “The Life and Death and Life of Tom Cobb” at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1 and 2, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, in the Robert S. Carey Performing Arts Center at Saint Vincent. Admission is free and seating will be open. Doors will open a half hour before showtimes.

“The Life and Death and Life of Tom Cobb” follows the adventures of Tom Cobb, a poor surgeon surrounded by his debts. In an attempt to escape his IOUs, he hatches a plan with his "friend," Tim Whipple, resulting in a comedic case of mistaken identity.

The main characters include Tom Cobb, played by Cameron Brennan, a junior communication major from East Earl; Matilda O’Fipp, played by Taylor Hanson, a senior biology major from Greensburg; Colonel O’Fipp, played by Michael Doelling, a sophomore history major from Latrobe; Tim Whipple, played by John Wojtechko, a senior communication major from Crescent; Caroline Effingham, played by Katherine Straatmann, a sophomore biology major from Washington, Missouri; Bulstrode Effingham, played by Robert Howard, a senior mathematics major from Ellicott City, Maryland; Mr. Effingham, played by Matthew Wojtechko, a sophomore computer science major from Crescent; Mrs. Effingham, played by Ariel Kreuzwieser, a freshman graphic design major from Canfield, Ohio; Biddy, played by Katherine Torisky, a junior management major from Pittsburgh (15243); Footman, played by Devon Long, a freshman physics major from Virginia Beach, Virginia; Digby Allistair, played by William Vana, a junior history education major from Monaca; Walter, played by Michael Mondock, a sophomore history major from Greensburg; Franny, played by Micaela Kreuzwieser, a sophomore English major from Canfield, Ohio; and Abigail Sutherland, played by Lee Stern, a senior computer science major from McKeesport.

Directing the show will be Leah Poponick, along with assistant director Eddie Kunz, a junior international business major from Cranberry Township; and producer Jack Rogan, a sophomore English major from State College.

The Executive Board for the Gilbert and Sullivan Players includes president Taylor Hanson, Vice President William Vana, Treasurer Dan Carlineo, a junior mathematics major from Nottingham, Maryland; Secretary Paisley Adams, a junior art education major from Ligionier; Public Relations Officer Cameron Brennan, Fundraising Chair Robert Mangan, a senior political science major from Douglassville; and club adviser Mr. Chris Plummer.
