The Saint Vincent College English Department will host Paula Bohince as the final speaker in its Visiting Writers Series for the spring semester at 5 p.m. Monday, March 19, in the Luparello Lecture Hall in the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion on the campus of Saint Vincent College. Admission is free and open to the public.
Bohince will also announce the winners of the annual Ragan Poetry Contest, for which she was this year’s judge, at the event, and the three winning poets will read their work to the audience.
Paula Bohince is the author of three poetry collections, most recently Swallows and Waves (Sarabande, 2016). Her poems have appeared in The New Yorker, The New Republic, Poetry, Granta, and elsewhere. Honors for her work include the Amy Lowell Poetry Traveling Scholarship, an NEA Fellowship in Poetry and the “Discovery”/The Nation Award. She lives in Pennsylvania.
The Visiting Writers Series has brought many writers of merit to Saint Vincent since its founding in 2008, including Toi Derricotte, Daniel Borzutzky, Ben Lerner, Carmen Gimenez Smith and Rick Hilles. The series presents writers from diverse locations from western Pennsylvania and beyond.
