SGA Meeting Minutes

Fr. Brian approached senate. Motion given by Floro to go into executive session; seconded by Cheplic. Motion carried.

Activities Report- Finau announced that Dashboard has verbally agreed to headline the concert on 25 March 2006. The Cellar Dwellers, an improv comedy group will be at SVC the Wednesday we return from break. 

President’s Report- Walz thanked Freshmen for putting up the Christmas lights in Melvin Platz. The computers in the Alfred study center are not broken; Fire fox should be used to check email. SVC will not get a PNC atm until the terms of the bank do not require anything special from the school, i.e. x amount of new accounts. At the SFAB meeting, Cline finished his marketing strategy presentation. The main finding in the research was that SVC had low name recognition outside of Westmoreland County. After Thanksgiving, on Tuesday, 29 November 2005, there will be a Presidential candidate debate for the Executive Board position in Carey at 9:15 PM. There will be free pizza and wings. Encouraged senate to attend and bring friends. 

Last week the decision was made to table the vote on library hours. The senate offered that there is a problem with the library being closed before 8:30 classes, and the request was made to open earlier and close later Mondays through Thursdays. The entire senate was in favor and the decision to keep the library open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 to 12 will be presented at the next SFAB meeting.

Tom Morrison and Rick Williams are looking into keeping the Alfred Computer lab open 24 hours. The estimated cost is about $6000 to install the necessary technologies. Morrison and Williams are willing to go halves with SGA. Motion given by Malesky to spend up to $3000 on the project; seconded by Davanzo. Whole senate in favor.

Programming Board Chairperson candidates, Krulikowski and Clark, presented selves and their reasons for running to the senate. Finau defined the position as running the financial budget of the Programming Board. They are also to supervise the team leaders, who run the events, who assign events to teams. The order of power descends from the Vice President of the Executive Board, to the Chair, to the 4 team leaders, to the team. By roll call vote, Clark was elected as the new Chair for the Programming Board. The decision for events for the next semester will be discussed 7 December, and senate members are invited to talk to PB members to have ideas represented.
