The Saint Vincent College Equestrian Team competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (zone 3, region 3) IHSA, a competition for riders of all skill levels - walk-trot; walk-trot-canter; and over fences.
The objective of the IHSA competition is to offer showing opportunities to riders in their first years of riding as well as to students with show experience. The IHSA eliminates the expense of shipping horses or even owning horses because students travel to colleges or universities and draw safe trained horses from that stable. No horses or tack are taken to shows. Each rider has an equal chance to succeed since the horses are assigned randomly.

In order for students to compete in the SVC team, student must take a minimum of 6 lessons during the summer months (with Dr. Ent or another instructor more convenient to home) and participate in weekly lessons offered at Saint Vincent College during the year. It is expected that riders desiring to compete will exceed the summer requirement. This requirement is not expected of non-competing or "pleasure riding" students.
Procedures for showing with Saint Vincent College:
- Proof of 6 or more summer riding lessons
