Official Minutes for the Meeting on February 12, 2006
Call to order- 8:01 PM Prayer- Herzing Excused: Conway, Fiumara, Socrates, O’Branski, Teems Unexcused: Marsherall, Yanicko, Sroka Minutes approved by Astorino, seconded by DiAlesandro. Public- Fisher, Rine, Wagner, Winters, Boosel, Walz, Deely Fr. Brian Boosel along with Walz and Deely approached the senate regarding Sports Friendship Day. They requested the continued support of SGA in this twenty-two year old tradition. The purpose of this event is to provide a free day of fun to mentally and physically handicapped people. $2500 was requested, which is the same amount as last year. This donation would cover the costs of music, food, t-shirts, invitations, and programs. Motioned to donate $2500 by DiAlesandro, seconded by Palscey with unanimous approval from the senate. Treasurer’s Report – Mancuso asked members of the senate to review the statement of financial position. Vice President’s Report – Hartbauer reported that the Steelers Super Bowl party went well. Chill Out also was very smooth. Events & Conference Services was thankful for all our support. Dashboard tickets are still on sale in the office. Sales have been going well. Secretary’s Report – Wojtila reported on Office Hours. Senate members have not been showing up to their assigned times. Wojtila quoted the SGA Constitution where it describes conditions for removal from office. Senate members are not able to have more than three unexcused absences of office hours. President’s Report – Stevens thanked all the members who helped out with Chill Out this year. Last night's basketball game was well attended. George Kacenga has recently left SVC to work at the University of Pittsburgh. Kacenga served as the Public Safety Departments Citation Appeals Officer. The Executive Board is in the process of finding a replacement. Stevens recently met with President Will and Caridi concerning the new marketing program to have more student input, possibly an SGA focus group. Stevens attended the alumni council meeting that took place during Chill Out. Alumni would like to see longer bookstore hours. Committee Reports – Food: Conway was unable to attend the meeting, but his report was passed around to all senate members. Technology: Smith reported on the new SGA TV’s that are going to be installed. Two should be in shortly, one in the Carey Center lounge area, and one in the Shack. Issues from the floor – Malesky commented that the cafeteria gate is still closed too early. Smith reported there have been some questions about a scale in the gym as well as a punching bag. Scanga asked if the snowplow could come later in the day on the weekend. Dott reported the bathrooms are still not being cleaned very well in St. Benedict. Green noted that the residence life staff has also addressed the issue. Motion to adjourn by Keeler, seconded by Malesky. Meeting adjourned at 8:21 PM.
