SFAB meeting, January 24, 2006
Those attending- Stevens, Hartbauer, Mancuso, Wojtila, Astorino, Feigel, Schulte, Wurst, Caridi, Coreno, Grumbine, Lamadrid, Morrison, Rine Lamadrid called the meeting to order at 1:01PM. Lamadrid explained the role of SFAB and had everyone in attendance introduce themselves. Possible agenda items that were discussed in the past were addressed and include: Study Abroad Program, Science Center Renovation, Distance Learning Update, and New Horizons Speaker Series Speakers. Cafeteria overflow, online classes, and the Benedictine Hallmarks were also suggested at this meeting. Tom Morrison gave a report on technology. The website has recently been updated. There have been some problems lately with the internet being slow, but there is currently an internet upgrade in progress. This upgrade was supposed to take place over Christmas break, but the service provider did not have everything together until the day before students returned for the new semester. The new upgrades will have a direct impact on the residence halls. This should put the colleges internet speed above our peer institutions. The upgrade process will not affect online applications or blackboard. Morrison talked about registration glitches reporting the server was clogged throughout the registration process. It is possible the Registrar will meter students in the future when it is time to register for class in attempt to solve the problem. There was a question if people were visiting the website. Morrison reported his staff can pull up statistical data to see who is visiting the school webpage, including the SGA website. Morrison will continue sending emails to the student body to keep them posted on internet updates. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 21. Agenda items include the study abroad program and the Benedictine Hallmarks. Lamadrid reported that we may need to meet more often than once a month in the future. Meeting was adjourned at 1:56PM. Respectfully submitted by John Wojtila
