Grant Proposal Clearance Form
Before grants research or proposal submission can take place, all grantseekers must fill out the FGG Grant Proposal Clearance Form and obtain the sign-off of their School's Dean and the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The form enables the Dean and the FGG staff to assess the scope of the project, the resources needed to carry it out, the commitment of faculty and staff time, and other budgetary, timing, and resource issues.

All projects are evaluated in terms of their fit with institutional, school, and departmental priorities. All potential grant applicants must complete the form and discuss the project with their School Dean before initiating grants research or proposal development.

Go to the Grant Proposal Clearance Form.

Proposal Development Timeline
The Proposal Development Timeline lists all major Grantseeking activities in sequence, beginning one year before a grant's deadline. It shows the individual and department responsible for each activity. All potential grantseekers should review the Timeline and regularly discuss with FGG the status of each activity. Go to the Timeline.

Sign-Off Procedures
All grant applications, letters of inquiry, or any correspondence with foundations, must be processed through FGG, which oversees the final sign-off procedure on grant applications and letters of inquiry.  The President, or his designated signatory, is the official authorized to commit institutional resources and to enter into agreement with grant providers.

Declination/Resubmission
In the event that a grant application is declined, the project director is encouraged to contact the funding agency to request feedback from the program staff. In the case of federal and state grants, the panel/peer reviewers’ comments are made available to all applicants. These should be carefully reviewed and their suggestions incorporated into a revised proposal, if there is evidence that the original proposal had sufficient merit.  Success rate for resubmissions are as high as 40-60% for some federal grant programs.
