Grantseeking Resources

There are a number of fee-based grants search services available, some of which index more than 10,000 separate grant announcements. One of the most widely-used and reliable databases for research support is the Illinois Research Information Service or "IRIS" at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Saint Vincent College currently subscribes to IRIS, which gives faculty complete access to the grant database.

Faculty can access the database from any computer on campus, and utilize its extensive keyword thesaurus to search for funding for research or programs.

Faculty can also view the IRIS deadline list. The list includes application deadlines grouped under 25 subheadings such as Area Studies, Business Administration, Humanities, Education, Environmental Sciences, Life Sciences, and Social Sciences. The lists are organized chronologically by deadline. Prior to initiating grants research through the FGG office, faculty are asked to perform an IRIS search.
