A 15% tuition grant is awarded to Saint Vincent College alumni. A
15% tuition grant is applied to Excela employees who enter the graduate
program in Health Services Leadership.
Students enrolled in at
least six credits per semester and who have been accepted to the
master's program may be eligible for low-interest federal student
loans. Contact the Saint Vincent College Financial Aid Office at
724-805-2500 to discuss opportunities for assistance with financing the
program.
Application for Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid a student must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application is available at Saint Vincent College, local colleges/universities and in high school guidance offices. The application is also available online at:
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov
**A student who has not filed an application for financial aid will not be eligible to receive financial aid.
Federal Stafford Student Loan
The Federal Stafford Student Loan enables a student to borrow
directly from a bank, credit union, savings and loan association, or
other participating lender. The loan is guaranteed by a state or
private nonprofit agency and insured by the Federal Government.
To
be eligible for a Federal Stafford Student Loan, a student must be
enrolled for a minimum of 5 credits each semester at Saint Vincent
College.
To apply for the loan, a student must fill out the
FAFSA, Master Promissory Note (MPN) and complete an online "Entrance
Interview." The MPN is good for 10 years. The school will
keep certifying the same note and send out a new award letter each
academic year with the maximum amount of loan a student can
borrow. If less than the maximum is wanted, the student just
needs to return the award letter and write in the desired amount.
Instructions on the "Entrance Interview" process will be mailed with
the first award letter.
A full-time graduate student may
borrow up to $8500 in subsicized loans per academic year and $12,000 in
unsubsidized. It may be less for part-time graduate students,
depending on the program. The intereston the subsidized Stafford
Loans is paid by the government while the student is in school and
during the 6-month grace period following graduation. With the
unsubsidized Stafford Loans, the student is responsible for paying the
interest the whole time. The interest will be no more than 8.25%.
Graduate PLUS Loans
The GradPLUS is available to graduate students but is not guaranteed
like the Stafford Loan; credit guidelines do apply. Eligibility is not
based on need or income. Students can borrow up to the cost of
education less any other financial aid awarded. Payment is
typically deferred until after graduation, and the interest rate will
not exceed 9%.
Students can apply for either loan by going to
www.aesSuccess.org or by picking up a paper application in the
Financial Aid Office.
